Manchester-native Aitch performed at Adelaide Hall on May 3, 2022, for his second of two back-to-back, sold-out shows in Toronto. These back-to-back shows kicked off his spring North American tour.
The recent buzz of hip hop music coming out of the United Kingdom has seen names like Aitch receive their well-deserved mainstream recognition in North America. It’s great to see British rap becoming more prevalent across North America as there was something refreshing about hearing Aitch’s Mancunian accent, witty lyrics, and confident delivery echo through the walls of a Toronto venue. On top of delivering a high-energy set to his fans, Aitch did a great job at interacting with the audience. He (1) often bent down to reach out to fans in the front row, (2) paused his set to ensure that fans were not getting squished in the crowd, and (3) even sang Happy Birthday to one of his fans. These moments showed off Aitch’s friendly demeanour and general likeability which made the night that much better.
The highlight of the night was Aitch’s live rendition of his hit song, Rain – which has now amassed over 54,000,000 views on YouTube and 148,000,000 streams on Spotify. The hard-hitting nature of the song makes it one that definitely sounds its best when performed live. Another standout moment from the show was when Aitch surprised the crowd by bringing out Toronto-native Smiley to perform his hit song, Over the Top which features none other than Drake.
Aitch continues his North American tour until May 11th. If you missed out on the Toronto stop of the tour, check out some moments from the show encapsulated in our photo gallery below!
