American singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha brought the Best F’n Night Of My Life Tour to Toronto’s Rebel on June 15, 2023. Infamous for co-writing hits from various artists from the past decade, she released her latest album in late April this year, titled Bebe. Featured are icons from different genres like Dolly Parton, whom she listened to growing up, Snoop Dogg, and David Guetta, one of her long-time collaborators. She last performed in Toronto at a Scotiabank Arena as a special guest for the Jonas Brothers’ Happiness Begins Tour in 2019.
Zolita, an American singer-songwriter known for her dark-pop and r&b artistry, was kicking off the night. She energized the crowd with songs like I Fucking Love You and 20 Questions. She had a fabulous stage presence as she constantly moved from each side of the stage and ensured the crowd felt her songs’ messages. Mellowing down, she brought out her acoustic guitar to perform her song, Ashley. She would also perform a cover of Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood, which got everyone pumped as they loudly sang along. Highlighting her set was a couple brought to the stage as one came down to one knee and proposed to their significant other before finishing her set with her most famous single, Somebody I F*cked Once.
Given ample time to recoup during the transition, excitement rose as the lights dimmed, and slowly Bebe’s silhouette took center stage, accompanied by backup dancers. The 70s influence on her new album was reflected in their attire. She would start her set with more recent tracks like I’m Not High, I’m in Love, Miracle Man, and Heart Wants What It Wants. Bebe proved her powerful vocals and showcased her as a dynamic performer as she danced and moved around the stage with her dancers. Each song performed was invoked with emotion, seen through her facial expressions and body language, which for her fans, is very empowering. With familiar electronic elements, long-time fans were also taken back in time as her set included Me, Myself & I, Hey Mama, and In the Name of Love and ended the night with her top-charting anthem, I’m Good (Blue).
Bebe Rexha has cemented herself in the music industry by being an all-rounder. Her passion and perseverance have allowed her a long career for about a decade. With her talent, there is no doubt that her catalogue will only expand even more in the following years, whether as a singer, songwriter, or collaborator.
