Fashion in cyclical; trends seem to always come back around, and with a modern touch. And while I’ve loved seeing the return of plaid shirts, band and baby tees and slip dresses, the trend I most fear coming back around is low rise jeans.
A low rise and stiff, thick, 100% cotton denim, which may have been all the rage 20 years ago, are now the bane of my lower body existence. When it comes to jeans, high rises, high stretch and high softness are my highest priorities. In fact, these denim features have become non-negotiable for me. In my mission to find only the best and most comfortable jeans out there, I was introduced to Mott & Bow.
Mott & Bow is a fashion brand born out of generations of expertise, modern ingenuity and a desire to make designer denim more accessible to fashion lovers. Simplicity is their core design philosophy and with 32 years of making great clothing under their belts (see what I did there) Mott & Bow takes pride in helping people look and feel good without breaking the bank or harming the environment. Mott & Bow founder Alejandro Chahin literally grew up around denim. While he was growing up, his family opened a denim manufacturing facility in Honduras, where he learned the process of making jeans from a young age. As an adult, Alejandro moved to New York City, where he quickly observed a price inefficiency in the marketplace contrasted by a distinct appetite for a great, yet affordable produce. It was then that Alejandro became inspired to flip the price-to-quality paradigm upside down, by creating designer quality denim at fair and affordable prices. And so Mott & Bow was born.
When I travelled to Paris last year, my Mott & Bow Mom Jeans and Vneck Tees were my travel staples, and my life staples when I returned. This year, I’ve discovered that Mott & Bow have another level of comfort and softness in their power stretch styles that come in mid and high rises. Mott & Bow’s high rise, stretch skinny styles are premium hand-crafted denim that hug the wearer in all the right places. They are made from breathable denim fabric that work well with warm summer weather and long travel days, thanks to their comfort and stretch. My newest staples are the The High Rise Skinny Ann Jeans in the rich Medium Blue and the High Rise Skinny Orchard jeans in the rock and roll reminiscent Dark Gray. And between the 10 inch rise and the 45% stretch my comfort requirements were definitely met.
Nothing tops a great pair of jeans better than a well made tee shirt. Mott & Bow tees are made of 100% Pima cotton, and are breathable and lightweight to wear every season but especially during Summer. These tees are also figure flattering- and for many figures with sizing from XS to XL (US 0 to 16). I was already enamoured with their light and airy v-necks, but now I love their muscle tees. With a flattering shoulder skimming sleeveless style and available in a variety of neutral tones, these tees are an easy addition to any wardrobe.
