The Small Household Appliances I can’t live without

Recently I moved into a home with extremely limited kitchen counter space.  I had to make choices and sacrifices in the small appliances department. While there are some things I miss, I’m enjoying my streamlined situation, and exploring what other tools can make life easier around the house.  Check out my findings to help you streamline your own home life, at least in the appliance department.

Espresso Machine

Making good coffee at home is essential to my quality of life, so the first thing I made space for on my countertop was an automatic espresso machine. Being able to make café quality lattes and other espresso based drinks at home helps me get my caffeine fix without paying coffee shop prices.  I love my Gaggia Brera machine with built in milk frother.  It grinds the beans for each espresso shot, making every drink taste amazing.  I also have a stand alone milk frother which makes for even frothier drinks right at home. All I need to do is add beans and my favourite nut milk du jour.  Check out my article on Balzac’s coffee for some coffee recommendations for when you get your own home machine.

Air Fryer

I in the end only had enough countertop space for one more appliance, and that had to be my air fryer.  I love an air fryer that is also a toaster oven, for me it replaces so many different appliances.  With my air fryer I now have no need for a toaster, a microwave, a grill and even an oven.  I have the Hamilton Beach Sure-Crisp® Digital Air Fryer Toaster Oven and it really is so multi-functional that it replaces all of the aforementioned and more. And when you’re short on space multi functional is mandatory.

Soda Maker

I have an unfortunate addiction to diet soda, or pop depending on where you’re from.  Having a soda maker at home helps me make healthier choices when it comes to my carbonation addiction. I love my Omnifizz from Drinkmate.  It’s the FIRST home carbonation beverage maker that allows users to carbonate ANY BEVERAGE quickly and easily, thanks to its innovative pressure release valves.  Gone are the days of overflowing your run of the mill soda maker, you can truly fizz up any drink you like.  The Omnifizz comes in a variety of colours to match your home décor and takes up very little room on your counter.  And because the Omnifizz doesn’t need to be plugged in, you can put it anywhere and it’s ready to use.

Air Purifier

As a pet owner with allergies, an air purifier makes all the difference when it comes to living better and more comfortably.  There are so many great products out there to choose from.  For me, the Shark Neverchange Air Purifier Max stands out from the rest because of that never change filter.  Plus, it looks like a cute little robot lives in my house with me.

Cordless Vacuum

A good cordless vacuum is truly life changing, especially if you’re old enough to remember using only corded vacuums.  Truly a terrible way to clean. And with a cat and a dog, needing to clean a hard to reach, random mess on the fly is just a fact of life.  Having a handy tool to help keep the house tidy is key.  I love the Shark Cordless Pet Stick Vacuum.  It’s light, easy to handle, and features a variety of extensions to clean everything from floors to furniture and every corner and surface in your home.
