We sometimes take convenience stores for granted, but they are always there when you need something last minute. Convenience stores are literally everywhere, but there’s one place that’s adding a local vibe to the ubiquitous store concept. Waypoint is new Canadian convenience store concept that engages with your community and features locally sourced products at its multiple locations across the country.
Waypoint’s Localicious program was developed to support small local snack producers with shelf space and visibility in the various Waypoint locations. The program is different from province to province, highlighting the variety of snack options to come out of different parts of the country!
This summer, Waypoint Convenience wants to take you This Way To… adventure, fun and snacks and more! As we stretch our legs after a long period in lockdown, Canadians all across the country will be hitting the open road, and they’ll need snacks and fuel to do it. And that’s where Waypoint comes in. Between their multiple locations across Canada, their Localicious snack program AND their awesome new blog that features tips, tricks and advice for road trips as well as iconic Canadian snacks, Waypoint will be the quintessential road trip pit stop for Canadian travellers all summer.
Whether you’re home with pals or in your car on your next adventure, Waypoint has you covered when it comes to snacks. And if you need some inspiration on how to snack in style, check out our a “Snackchuterie” board. We joined forces with our favorite pop culture historian, Marie Nicola (aka @karmacake), podcaster extraordinaire, and self-professed master of charcuterie boards to build this amazing cornucopia for our little lady date. This board was created with products sourced from any Waypoint Convenience. The idea was to put a Snack filled version of a charcuterie board together for a fun last minute snack idea to celebrate good times with friends. The Snackchuterie board is perfect for a picnic or a quirky dessert idea that is full of nostalgia and is guaranteed to bring out the kid in all of us.
You can make your own variation, but this was a few of our favourite picks
Natural peanut butter for dipping sauce
Mini Chips Ahoy & Oreos
Jack Link’s Beef Steak Nuggets
Sour Cream and Onion Pringles
Maynard’s Swedish Berries
Hershey’s Cookies and Creme Drops
Nestle Smarties
Joe Louis Vachon Cake
The key is to arrange it on a flat surface and aim to have zero negative space. This helps to make it look more impressive, but really when you arrange it. We also created zones. The beef jerky zone was sectioned off with Pringles and we put the dippable items by the peanut butter dip. We used a lazy susan so we could spin it around and avoid getting peanut butter on the jerky. It cost us around $25, and we had enough treats to build this board 3X over!
If road trips, snacks and supporting local sounds good to you, then be super to stop by a Waypoint when you hit the road this summer. And to help you on your travels, we’ll be giving away a $50 credit to the Waypoint Convenience location closest to you. Enter below, and be sure to head to our Instagram @weraddictedmag to score some bonus entries, and use the hashtag #ThisWayTo while posting. Good luck, and safe summer travels!
