Fresh off the release of their albums, Marvelous and bag or die in late October, North American Hip-hop artists, Yung Gravy and bbno$ (pronounced as “baby no money”) teamed up to co-headline Baby Gravy, The Tour. The duo marked the halfway point of the 29-stop tour at Toronto’s HISTORY on November 23, 2022.
DJ Tiiiiiiiiiip, Yung Gravy’s DJ, began the night by presenting a slide deck on How To Turn Up at The Baby Gravy Show on the video wall. He energized the crowd with a plethora of songs ranging from different genres. Songs like Rich Flex by Drake, Misery Business by Paramore, Jump Around by House of Pain, and many more. The intensity was felt in the building. Tiiiiiiiiiip was succeeded by Terror Reid, a San Jose-based rapper known for his flow. He was easy to listen to due to the familiarity of old-school hip-hop beats and melodies used in some of his tracks.
After Reid, Tiiiiiiiiiip came back to introduce the duo. The video wall was used again and a rubber hose animation, an art style in early cartoons in the 1920s-1930s era, was played as fans screamed and cheered for Gravy and Baby. The crowd went wild as the duo slowly appeared and made their way to the stage. They started performing a few songs together and alternated solos throughout the set. They performed hits like Betty, Mr. Clean, Lalala, edamame, top gun, and Whip A Tesla. With their carefree style, the audience witnessed their great stage presence and chemistry. Gravy’s rich baritone voice stood out, captivating everyone in attendance. While Baby’s breath control allowed him to keep pace as he rapped and danced. The duo ended the night with C’est La Vie. Sending off the crowd with an upbeat track that undoubtedly instills positive vibes to carry on after the show. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience.
